About the Artist
Friendswood, Texas-based contemporary artist Marcus Mann received his formal education from the University of Houston. He operates out of a Studio/Gallery located in Downtown Houston's prestigious Lyric Centre. Here, in the midst of the "Theater District," Mann produces fine works of art for a select and international clientele who have come to know and appreciate his considerable talents and, as such, are compiling private
collections through his exclusive seasonal showings.
Says the 45-year-old painter, "The temptation to leave Texas and relocate to a traditional contemporary venue like New York, London or Paris was virtually irresistible only a few years ago." "However," Mann explains, "not only do I love my home state and my great many friends here; I also believe Houston, being an ever-expanding cultural center, should not be abandoned by those who could notably enhance that expansion at this critical juncture."
"Millions of people from all walks of life and all parts of the world live and work here. I'm just a small part of the equation. But if I am to leave my mark, given my loyalty to my home, my friends, my family and my fellow artists, I'd like to do it here."
"Turn-of-the-century contemporary art is the virtual definition of the truth," he adds. "No matter where you are, no matter who you're with, the truth is the truth … nothing more, nothing less."
"It's all right here, right now.
And if I'm lucky, I'll find what I'm not looking for."
